Welcome to the Linnie Blooms Blog. I'm Karen and today I am sharing a Altered Clip Board. I wanted to create something beyond my usual paper crafting and thanks
to a conversation with my sister, Janet, the embellished clip board was
born. She needed a quick thank you gift for her breast feeding
consultant who helped her with her newborn. The finished clip board
is pretty and feminine, as well as, a useful and practical gift.
Supplies:
Linnie Blooms Canvas Bookmark, Linnie Bloom
Hand-dyed Trim, fabric scraps, watercolor paints, water brush, Stickles
glitter glue, K&Co wooden embellishment, tulle, twine, ribbon,
clip board
Directions:
1. Paint the canvas bookmark with watercolor paints stopping just at the
edge of the stitching. Then iron the bookmark between two sheets of
copy paper to speed up the drying time and help it to lay flat. Apply a
thin layer of glitter glue over the paint to give it a subtle
twinkle. When dry, paint the wooden embellishment and adhere it to the
canvas bookmark.
2. To assemble a fabric Yo Y, cut a circle of fabric 4 inch in diameter.
Hand sew a row of basting stitches along the edge of the circle. Next,
tighten the thread to gather the fabric forming a little pouch and
flatten. Secure stitches by knotting off and clipping the threads.
3. Attach a ribbon rose to the center of the Yo Yo. Lastly, cut four 3
inch circles of tulle fabric. Fold each circle in half twice and baste
them together to form a layered circle. Glue the folded tulle layers
under the Yo Yo flower to give it more texture and dimension.
4. Next, attach the canvas bookmark along the top metal clip and
embellish with a ribbon bow. Finally, glue the finished flower to the
top of the clipboard. If desired, use a piece of jute or twine 18
inches long to secure a pen to the clipboard.

August Designer Challenge~Quotes
Hi Friends! Abby here with ScrappinAbby and it's my turn to join in on this month's challenge "Create a project using a quote". Technically we're supposed to use our favorite quote but I really don't have a favorite...I have a lot that I really turn to depending on the mood or situation I'm going through. So the one I'm sharing today is more of a positive/gratitude quote.
I created an art display piece that I already have displayed in my craft room...
I also have a short video that shows you the project up close along with the products I used...
I altered a wood block using a combination of various craft paints...I wanted to match the green in the fabric I was using for the project...
While I was waiting for the block to dry, I started working on the butterfly canvas die. I am LOVING the new mixed stitch stamps Linda Barutha has designed so I wanted to incorporate them in my project...
For the rest of the project I just used some sprays and crackle paint on the wood block and fabric to give it that shabby chic feel that I love so much and then I added the other elements...
This was such a fun and easy project to create using the fabulous canvas pieces and stamps from Linnie Blooms. This would be a great gift for any occasion.
Be sure to stop by the Linnie Blooms STORE and pick up some of the fun products so you can use them on your crafting projects.
Thanks for stopping by the Linnie Blooms blog and for checking out another ScrappinAbby project.
Happy Crafting!!

Pillowcase
When got my new Linnie Blooms stencils I got the idea to use them for a home decoration project. I had a old vintage pillow case lying around that was in a bit of bad shape. But since it was a heritage piece I didn´t want to trow it away. So I came up with the idea of using the stencils to create a embroidery pattern.
I used the stencil to create my tree and then the fish/owl to sit underneath it. As you can see I have extended the branch so that it forms the base of the tree instead.
And here is my finished result.
As you can see on the closeup below I have made the owl by applying a felt owl.
Hope you get some new ideas on how to use the stencils/masks.

Creative Storage for Linnie Blooms Canvas Pieces
Hi Friends! Abby here with ScrappinAbby and I am really excited about my first official post as a new member of the Linnie Blooms Design Team!!!
I had so much fun playing with some of the canvas pieces and I came up with a creative & decorative way to not only store my pieces but to organize them as well.
I recycled some vegetable cans and created these sweet containers that I decorated with some of the very same canvas pieces these will store. I also have a video to share with you that shows you the project up close along with the Linnie Bloom items I used....
Let me share with you the fun techniques I used on the canvas pieces...
For the flower, I used a script background stamp to create some texture and visual interest.
Next I used some sprays to give it some color and used my distress tool to fray the edges to give it a shabby chic look...
I did the same technique for the leaf pieces but used a different background stamp...
For the butterfly I stamped an actual butterfly image on the canvas piece then used some distress ink to give it some color....
I wanted to have the illusion that the butterfly had just flown into my craft room and landed on the vine so I taped the wire I had left from when I cut my flowers to the backside of the butterfly so I could bend it as if it was in motion....
For the bird I used some embossing powder for added texture and shimmer....
Lastly, I used the same treatment on all the banner pieces that I attached to each altered can....
Here are a few more photos of the completed altered cans....
And here's how they look on my shabby chic vintage hutch....
Be sure to check out all of the fabulous Linnie Blooms Products available so you can use them in your crafting projects as well.
