Linnie Blooms Mail Art

Special Guest Designer Cheryl Dossey:

When Linda asked me if I would be interested in creating a post using her new mail art canvas envelope? I was thrilled… I love sending and receiving mail especially from other artists who go the extra mile and create something unique and special.

This is how it came…a nice rigid sewn envelope with curved flaps.

It didn’t take long for me to decide who would receive this special mail art envelope.   I recently attended a one day workshop in my area and wanted to send a special “thank you “and I knew this would be perfect.
To start, I put a light layer of clear gesso over the entire outside surface and let dry. I then used Caran d’ache neocolor watercolors to add the background color.

I drew a tree branch with a pencil for my bird to stand on and again used the watercolors crayons to paint various shades of brown.

The bird and “hello” greeting were done using rubber stamps and a Staz On black ink stamp pad. I then filled in the bird with more watercolor.

I then flipped it over and started painting the back. I wanted to follow the great curved shape of the flaps so I used a decorative cirlce stamp to add more circle and then colored thshadeesof red, orange and dark pink.  On the bottom flap I used a rubber stamps with a row of postage stamps. One of favorite stamps.

In in order to mail it I added an oval to the front and the back flap for the To and Return addresses. I used white gesso so that I would be able to easily write on it with a good black pen.

Here’s the finished product…

I can’t wait to send this and hear the response. I know she’ll love it. This is a great piece and think I may have to order more of these from Linnie Blooms so I’ll have them on hand and ready to go when I want to send a note or thank you to someone special.

Thanks Linda!!

A sweet mini album

Hello to all!
Today is my first post here with Linnie Blooms and am very happy!
I made a mini album of canvas and used some photos of family.

I'm loving using canvas Linnie Blooms because its texture is wonderful. I used Faber Castel Gelato and some clouds of spray paint, and as with all my work rather use stencil and paste for modeling.

I hope you become inspired to work with these products
 Have everyone a wonderful weekend

Food Journal

One of my favorite gifts in homemade blank journals or mini albums. I made this one having a friend in mind that are a constant source of inspiration when it comes to cooking. I love how she displays her food, how she prepares it and the way it tastes. I do have a sort of hope that she will fill this journal and give it back to me...

The journal is easy made by using a pack of canvas file folders. I punshed two wholes in along one side to fit the rings and then I just added a small amount of decorations. The journaling card from SODAlicious fits perfect as center piece. Behind it you can see a bit of spray mists and a stamped coffee ring (stamp from Cocoa Daisy).

This is how a couple of the pages looks like. I have diverted the journal into 3 parts - recepies, thoughts and a section called what ever (for pictures maybe?).

Since I want the receiver to write in this journal I left the pages blank.

Have a nice day in the kitchen!

Season for Tags

Happy Spring!! It's Kisha here today with my last post as a Linnie Blooms DT member. I've enjoyed months of sharing what I've created here with you all, and I hope I've created something that actually inspired you to create using Linnie Blooms canvas.

Today, I have a few tags I created with the spring season in mind.

Now, watch out till the end...funny how we start off with items to create with and end up using something else.  The tags you see here are bases that I cut using heavy weight card stock then begin to distress as desired.

Next, I added plenty of spray mist to my tag for added color.  Be sure to dry the color thoroughly before adding any other embellishments.

Here you see I added color to my butterfly then added some tinted molding paste using a stencil.

And here's my final product. I love how this tag turned out and it would make for a great end of year teachers gift.

Here's where the canvas shape change happened. I ended up wanting to use a bird cage on my tag so that's how I ended up using my last canvas bird instead of the heart.  I love how I distressed this bird using my gelato's and music stamp.

And here is my final spring designed tag...shabby chic with a pop of coral.

a sweet little canvas bag... by leeann pearce

Hello Linnie Blooms fans. Today I wanted to share another sweet but simply project I made using one of the 9x11 inch canavs blanks.

I made this little canvas bag for my youngest daughter as she has a love for bags of any kind. She loves to just stuff what ever she can in them.
One of her favorite animals is elephants because she remembers them from our Thailand trip.

 anyway so this is it...

- I simply cut a piece of fabric measuring the same size as the canvas.
- I also made a elephant template and cut this out using scraps of fabrics.
- I used a canvas heart and cut in two and used them as leaves for the red fabric flower.

- Once the shapes were cut out i pinned everything in place and used a zig zag machine stitch.
- I went around twice.
NOTE: At this stage it was time to machine stitch the large piece of fabric I had cut out.

- I used some scraps of ribbon to create the carry handles and machine stitch them in place.

So you can see how easy it really was.
There are so many great ways to used this canvas blank.
I certainly loved making this little bag for jorja!

Thanks for popping by Leeann Pearce
