Some times simple is the solution

Hello! Happy Saturday from Scatter Joy with Jessann! As I was laying out the beautiful detailed card that I had created, I couldn't get past the beauty of the base layout of my design. Sometimes we forget the simple things in life as well as in our designs. We get so involved in the embellishments and the bling that we don't always realize that a simple design can be the perfect solution. So today I am sharing with you the simplicity of my design.

I love the Linnie Blooms Stencils! They can be used for so many different techniques and when you just need something simple I hope you will think of my design as the perfect solution.
Have a blessed Saturday!

Challenge - Popsicle Journal and pen

Hello everyone and Happy Friday-

Today, I am here to show you my take on the Design Team challenge. Here is the challenge:  Show us how to use LB Stencils/Masks and Canvas to portray what kind of outdoor fun you will have this month.  When, I had to boys so we tend to spend a lot of time outdoors. One of our favorite things to do is hike and sketch.  So much of my inspiration comes from nature. So the butterfly stencil/mask and butterfly (flutter)  canvas pieces were a natural choice. My first project is a journal to take along hiking.  I keep in the theme of outdoor fun and make a popsicle journal. I did laminate the covers to make it a little more sturdy.

Then, I thought it would be fun to make a pencil that matched PLUS I still needed to use the canvas piece. I gessoed the canvas butterfly twice. I wanted it nice and hard. Next, I colored the butterfly up all pretty. Then, I used a scrabble tile (that I collaged on)  in the middle of the butterfly then used E6000 to attach it to the butterfly. I hand sewed a circle of elastic and used E6000 again to attach the butterfly to the elastic. I did this so that I could easily move the butterfly from pencil to pen.

So, there you have it my take on the Design team challenge for the month of June! Hope you enjoyed it :)

Hugs,

Stenciled Infinity scarf

Good Monday Morning everyone. Today, I am here with a project inspired by Pinterest. I saw this post on Pinterest on how to turn a t-shirt into a cool stenciled infinity scarf.  My first thought was the cool stencils that Linnie Blooms has.  On first scarf, I used the the Butterfly stencil and mask. Then I used the stencil as a mask and stenciled a pattern on the butterfly!

The second scarf,  I used the Flutter stencil and mask. Again I used the Flutter stencil (the bird) as a mask and stenciled a pattern on the bird.

Look, How fun, cute and cheap these are!!!! I used some old t-shirts I had laying around the house. Another great gift idea you could make in about an hour. If you make some of these t-shirt stenciled infinity scarves , I would love to see them.

Have a wonderful day!
Hugs, K

LInnie Blooms Stencils + Gelli Plate = Love!!

Hi Linnie Bloom Peeps!!  Karen here today, just jumping with excitement because I got to play with Linnie Bloom stencils and masks!!  I just adore the shapes that the stencils come and when I saw the bird stencil, this little idea just seemed perfect!!

First, I took out a canvas and created a background.  I combined teal and titan buff and used them in the Chevron Grunge stencil.  Then I added some Tim Holtz tissue paper with gel medium and stamped on a little bit of text for texture.

Then came the REALLY fun part ... gelli plate playtime!! I rolled on a little bit of paint and laid the stencil down right on top of the gelli plate.

I laid down some plain white tissue paper to pull off the 'image!'  (The trick here is to not use too much paint, the less the better, so that you don't saturate the tissue and rip it. )

I also followed the same technique to make the tailfeathers using the leaf stencil from the bloom stencil kit!

I used the stencil to 'draw' the branch and leaves.

This is what the tissue paper bird and her tail feathers looked like before I glued it down to the canvas!

Finally, I used Gel Medium and this little bird looks like she just a part of the canvas!!

A couple more 'tailfeathers' and doodling ...

And just a couple of finishing details and this little bird is ready to sing her heart out!!

Thank you SO much for stopping by Linnie Blooms today.  I hope you find some inspiration from my project! Grab your stencils, paints and go create!!

Creative use of stencils

Hello and Good Monday Morning,

Hope everyone had an amazing weekend. Today, I am here with a fun mixed media project using the flutter stencil and mask, canvas shapes (sunflower), and burlap (teal).

I started out with a 6 x 6 block of wood. Then I just randomly painting the background in ocean-ish colors with a little touch of yellow ;) I got creative with the flutter stencil of the owl and turned it sideways to make it look like a fish. Painted the fish with cute little faces. Cut and added the canvas sunflowers using glue. Next, I painted them and added a little burlap to the tops of them. I also used a button, washi tape, some words, black colored pencils, and gel pens. Once, I was all done I sealed it.

A couple of close ups for you! What journey will you embrace today?

Hope your have a creative day!
