Quotes - August Designer Challenge

I must admit that I´m not a big fan of quotes. But I´m always up for a challenge. One quote that has stuck into my mind and one that I sort live by "Sweat is fat crying". I love to work out at the gym!

I made this layout using mixed media techniques. The background was made with a lot of gesso and paint splatters with really wet metallic water paint. I used a Linnie Blooms canvas shape that I stamped on with permanent ink as a backdrop for my photo. The Linnie Blooms canvas butterfly was painted with the same metallic paint as I dribbled on the background.

The buttons and chipboard was a variety of colors, so I covered them with a thin layer of gesso to hold it all together.

The picture was taken at my local gym - Victory Gym.

Happy, Beautiful, Lovely....

 Hi friends- It's me Scrappin Madge! I am super excited to share with you today a fun tag that I created using some yummy Linnie Blooms Products!!! The challenge for the designers this month is to incorporate our favorite quote!! Mine I used three of my favorite words! Happy, Beautiful and Lovely.  I used two hearts from Linnie Blooms, some yummy Heidi Swapp Gold and Mint Color Shine along with Archival Black Ink.  You can get all of this at the Linnie Blooms Store {HERE}.

July Challenge Patriotism - HI SWEDEN!

Well since yellow & blue are my countries colors that is what I used on my July Challenge project. SO to all of you - this is from Sweden with love!

I have used material from Cocoa Daisy and SODAlicious together with my all time fav Linnie Blooms product - the Canvas stars. I have also used Canvas journaling piece.

Christmas in July - Ornament

Jessica here from Scatter Joy with Jessann! Hope everyone is feeling blessed today! I sure am! Yesterday I had a scare with my heart and had a trip to the emergency room, but all is well now. I am so thankful that I had so many people lifting me up in prayer!

Today I want to share my Christmas in July ornament. It was a lot of fun to make using the Linnie Blooms Canvas shapes!  Here is the front and the back of my ornament.

Amazing Linnie Bloom canvas shapes

Hi .. Bev here today and OMG ..my first ever real canvas attempt... sure hope you like it.

It all started with canvas shapes from Linnie Blooms... and 

I knew exactly what I wanted to do with these really cool canvas trees and leaves.

I started with a 8 1/2"x 12" canvas from the dollar store.

I used paint strips on the background to start. 

Then I mask with gesso for more texture and then added more paint splatter.

Next I used Paper House papers.. plywood and  pine forest... rustic and ripped 

it and edges with ranger ink.

More layers with some burlap, strip of cork and a section of Creative Embellishments accent.

Phot was placed under the accent a bit and the 

painted trees cover the base of the photo also.

I put a cute rubon on a piece of paper, ribbed and inked and applied

 to top right corner of all the layered textures.

I added and metal accent and a twine tied metal keys accent.

In the top upper left corner I inked the leaves, doodled spines and added buttons.

Using Cricut I cut the title "best memories".

Patriotic Challenge

This month at Linnie Blooms we were challenged to be patriotic in our designs.

My card features a quaint little house and a sweet little flag in red, white and blue.

 I love our country and count my blessings daily for my home, my friends and family...

and of course my creative family as well!

Patriotism Linne Bloom Style.....

Hello! Happy July!!! This month over here at Linnie Blooms you will see that our designers will be showcasing some fabulous projects that represent Patriotism. I am proud to be an American, and I am super excited that I can share with you a fun canvas made into a flag.  Flying the colors of the red, white and blue!
I used a 5x11 canvas, canvas starts, some Heidi Swapp Color Shine and a cute Hanger all from the Linnie Blooms store {HERE}.

I hope that you like my canvas today! Here is how it was made....
I took the canvas and cut a square where I would put my stars.  I then took another piece and covered up the parts I didn't want to spray.  I first sprayed the red, then the blue and then the red again.  I then took white paint and painted dots on the canvas.  I then spritzed the canvas with gold Heidi Swapp spritz spray.  Next I took some yellow spritz and sprayed the stars.  I then put the bling on the stars once that the canvas was dry.  I then took a black marker by Faber-Castel and outlined the canvas to make it pop.

Outdoor Fun with Icecream!

As mentioned before my 10 yo is the coolest kid I know. He really embrace life and enjoy every little minute of it. I snapped this picture of him enjoying a ice cream in the sun last summer. I just love how you really can see how much he enjoys it. It was a natural choice for the June DT challenge outdoor fun. I mean, we don´t eat ice cream on a regular basis, but during the summer, we tend do have one, or tree...

As you can see I have used two products from Linnie Blooms on this page. First of all the canvas trees. To archive the treelike effect I have first sprayed it with 3 shades of spray ink. Then when dry I stamped and embossed the flower shapes from Cocoa Daisy. It turned out better than I thought it would...

I also sprayed on the canvas arrow with a bit of spray ink. I used the Heidi Swapp Color shine in the color Mint green.

Hope this made you long for a cool ice cream in the sun. I´ll be back tomorrow with a card. Have a nice day.

Card for him, card for her!

Hi there crafty friends! This is Jessica, www.jessicalibasci.wordpress.com, come scatter joy with me!
Today I have two cards to show you. The first card I want to share, I made for my wonderful husband who always supports my craft addiction. He is such an encourager.

For both of the cards I designed this week, I used Linnie Blooms canvas shapes. I love these canvas shapes. For my husbands card I used the arrow and for the next card I want to show you I used the canvas flowers.

I used Linnie blooms bloom stencil and mask to create the background flower.

For both the arrow and the flower I colored Linnie's canvas shapes with Gelatos. The Gelatos are one of my favorite ways to color the canvas shapes! The are fun and easy to use.

Linnie Blooms fabulous Canvas Shapes

HI.. Bev here today. I am excited today to share my Linnie Blooms post with you.

 I have been working with lots of canvas shapes this month 

and here is what I did with the Sun shape.

We also have been doing themes of the month.. outdoor fun. 

Well what better outdoor summer fun than eating popsicles with cousins.

I started by colouring the cavas sun with Ink pads.. I used yellow and orange mix.

I then used my Kreaxions circle cutter to make 2 rings from paper and a centre circle.

I inked the edges and glued them down.

In the close ups I'll tell you abit about what I did. Starting with the Jillibean placemat cut cardstock

I cut apart only 12 circle sections.. and filled alternating offset circles with a background circle to fill it.

The top corner cluster is finished off with twine... the windmill sticker is matted and foam popped.

I added sun ray paper strips.

Also hand cut some clouds from the papers.

The stickers are fabulous.. what a great mix... titles, strips, admit tickets and alpha of different shapes.

I used Kreaxion Punch #903 to punch a border.

I added fun mix of coloured brads in the bottom right.

My Superstar!

Spring wishes from the North of Sweden today! Finally it´s getting green outside, and the temperature has come to reasonable levels. I hope that your part of the world feels as nice as mine does right now.

I´m have a layout to show today. My 10 yo son is the coolest guy I know. Despite his lack of age he´s sure of what he wants and have confident. He doesn´t care much about what others in the same age thinks of him. When he chose his new glasses he picked the most colorful and girlish ones in the store cause that was the ones he wanted. He really is my superhero and I hope he can keep this confidence when he becomes a teenager!

I have used papers from Cocoa Daisy kits for this page and combined them with some of my favourite Linnie Blooms products - the canvas Stars and the canvas envelopes.

I have distressed the edges of the canvas shapes to hightlight them further.

May Challenge - April Showers have brought us May Flowers! - Flowers the alternative way

Are you up for the May Challenge when the Designers have been challenged to use Linnie Bloom Canvas Flowers? I´m going to show you an alternative way of using Linnie Blooms product for creating your flowers. Here is my step-by-step on how to make it happen.

And this is my finished result. I painted the flowers with a bit of Heidi Swapp Color Shine to achieve the right effekt. I also reshaped the flowers a bit to give make them a bit wider.

Creative use of stencils

Hello and Good Monday Morning,

Hope everyone had an amazing weekend. Today, I am here with a fun mixed media project using the flutter stencil and mask, canvas shapes (sunflower), and burlap (teal).

  I started out with a 6 x 6 block of wood. Then I just randomly painting the background in ocean-ish colors with a little touch of yellow ;) I got creative with the flutter stencil of the owl and turned it sideways to make it look like a fish. Painted the fish with cute little faces. Cut and added the canvas sunflowers using glue. Next, I painted them and added a little burlap to the tops of them. I also used a button, washi tape, some words, black colored pencils, and gel pens. Once, I was all done I sealed it.

Mixed media tags

Today I would like to show you two tags I made for my doughter Alice who turned 6 years old a couple of days ago.

 

I have used the same base for both tags, a cardstock tag with a patterned paper from 7 Dots Studio (Love is in the Air collection "Rising of the Sun"). First of all, I wanted to add some structure so I applied thick modeling paste (from the hardware store) trough a template. When dried I sprayed the tags with mist from Ayeeda (13@rts). After drying more I stamped with black permanent ink randomly over the tags.

 

When happy with the base I added my chosen Linnie Bloom canvas products, mixed with a couple of other embellishments. For the tag above I made a flower using two Canvas Blooms that I sew togheter by hand. Then I sprayed it with ink and highlighted it with a bit of red paint.

For the card down below I used the gorgous Canvas Leaves and feathers! They are SO versatile!! Instead of misting them I painted them with thin gesso. That way they get more flexible, and easy to bend when semi dry.

Other materials used: Flower (13@rts). Frame (Fabscraps). Chipboard Wheel and tag (Scrapiniec). Rinestones (Pink Paislee). Button (Prima Marketing). Stamps (Prima, Keisercraft).

Asia Journal ~ A Linnie Blooms Mini Journal

I have been designing for Linnie Blooms for quite a while now. A very good experience and a great chance to get my hands on their product line. When I put my hands around one of their Mini Journals, a small 5" X 7" collection of canvas pages and a wonderful Flourish Pocket tucked inside, I fell in love!

It has 4 pages of stitched surfaces sandwiched with papers recycled from old book and a wonderful pocket opportunity to insert little bits of unexpected joy inside. I just knew I had to create something special with it and something dear to my heart. It called for lots of details and a place for fond memories.

Since I lived in Southeast Asia quite a while, what better subject than memories and ephemera from my trips and life there? My own little memory scrap book to hold some favorite treasures.

I was interested in trying out some Transfer Artist Paper, which I had heard does a great job of transferring images to fabric. I wanted to give it a try on canvas and see what I could do with it. I found an image from one of my Dover Publicationsbooks that I thought would set the color and theme well. I had a bit of trouble getting the image to adhere well, but think it came out a bit vintage looking, which after a while grew on me. It makes it look old and well worn, like a favorite book which has been tucked in my backpack while on my journeys.

A special note: Thank you to Leslie Riley, who took time to consult with me over the effects I was trying to achieve and learning to love what became.

I added some simple Linnie Blooms shapes for the title and some rub-ons and old stamps for accents. A few jade beads and some brass charms added a bit of bling to the front cover.

Buddha pages

While in Asia, visits to Buddhist temples are a must for learning about the culture and customs of the people. I have been to many and find each one beautiful, colorful and wonderful places to see. I have met some very interesting people while visiting temples, and have gained a respect and embracing of their principles. I wanted to honor my visits with a couple of images from travel brochures that I had collected.

The beauty of Asian women is well known! I wanted to capture a vintage collection of Chinese and Japanese costumes and accessories. Their attention to detail, grace and elegance are impressive to me. Pink and green combined together spoke of this for me and I saw a lot of it while traveling. Strong yet feminine colors of spring time. Beauty and charm.

Most women now embrace the Western style of clothing, so spotting a women in traditional dress was a delightful surprise. Often they would pose for a quick photo if you politely asked, often with a blush and a small giggle covered with a delicate hand. It is nice to see these traditions still upheld and celebrated during special times or events.

Tucked inside that Flourish Pocket I found an old post card of a Reclining Buddha in Thailand. I embellished it with more old stamps and an old print of a garden scene and some flourish rubber stamping.

Flower pages

Asia is also known for their lovely flowers. So many of the flowers we use today in our own gardens are from all over Asia. I myself, have peonies similar to the one pictured here. These two pages are more Transfer Artist Pages that I colored and painted in with myGelato color sticks.  I also added some old stamps again and a book mark that I picked up in a Hong Kong shop.

Memories of China, back cover

Finally, the back cover depicts a few placed in Hong Kong that I have visited. I love all the details they put into their architecture. Tons of carved and painted details all over the place! Huge statues, large structures for placing incense to burn, old paintings and tapestries. Wonderful flare for color and ceremony.

I am pleased with the results of my Linnie Blooms Mini Journal. I was able to use techniques that have proven reliable for me. Layers of paper and gel medium, painted trim and details, ink and stencils, gelato color sticks and lots of stickers and assorted souvenirs.

Now that I have really tried them out, I am anxious to do more. I can see all sorts of possibilities for these little keep sakes. Cherished memories, a collection of techniques, pages commemorating special times and people in our lives.  Perhaps a technique class is in order to share what I have learned here...
