Mini Mixed Stitch Book

Hello, it's me, Ann from the Design Team here at Linnie Blooms and the blog: AnnMakes (http://annmakes.blogspot.com).  Today I have this Mini Mixed Stitch Book that I am working in to share with you. I honestly love collecting and working in books, even more so canvas ones such as this.  The combination of canvas and paper in between the layers makes for such a wonderful surface to play on.

I recently attended a training session with Deco-Art at a Designer's retreat in Toronto.  Not only did I return with so much new information, knowledge and tips, but also products!  What a lucky girl I am.
I tried the new to me paints and mediums in my Linnie Blooms Book, and I decorated the cover which is what I am sharing with you today, as the inside pages are still a work in progress.

This cover was prepped with gesso first.  Once the gesso was dry I started to add the colours with a brush.  I just played and played.  I used three colours of Fluid Acrylics (Cobalt Teal, Hansa Yellow Medium, and Dioxazine Purple) paint and just added, removed, and dabbed.
I also used a piece of rubber shelf liner as a stencil and a stamp to create the background.

Once I was pleased with the background I then used the stencil to trace the flower shape in the top right corner.  I painted that  flower in magenta and yellow which I mixed into shades of orange, and red.  I used some crackling medium as well to add texture.  I then glued seed beads with "Liquid Glass", and I covered the whole beaded section with a top layer of "Liquid Glass".

The butterflies are stamped, and coloured with the same Fluid Acrylics.  Finally I traced over all the black lines with a permanent ink pen.  The spine was painted with a limes greenish colour I made from mixing the Hansa Yellow, and Cobalt Teal.

Rustic Journal Kit by Rochelle

Hello Crafters!

Today I am sharing with you something a little out of my comfort zone
an altered journal. :)
This kit comes with a 6X9 Canvax, 2 Petal Flower, 1 Canvas Pocket, 2 Buttons and Jute.

I started with some Gesso and used a stencil to create some texture.  Once it dried, I added color using a blue Gelato. I folded the journal in half and punched to holes using the big Cropadile. I added a few sheets of paper in the inside of the journal and tied it with Jute.
Next, I altered the flowers and pocket canvas using a mixture of water colors and Gelatos.
I used Linnie Blooms Stitched Sunshine Stamp collection on the pocket and doodled around the flowers and pocket.  I also added some patterned paper and instead of the buttons, I used bling for my center of the flowers. Once it all dried I glued everything down in the center of the journal, with the flowers overlapping each other and popping at least one flower up.
And there you have it!  My altered Rustic Journal was done.  I love how the everything came out! :)
I hope I have inspired you to create your own altered canvas journal! You can find it in the

Thank you for stopping by!

Canvas Scrapbook Page

Creating a background is such a completely satisfying process. Without relying on pretty patterned paper for the layout, anything is possible. I am the first to admit, a blank 12' canvas can be a bit intimidating but also so exciting. My best advice, "just go for it." I just had to start even though I didn't know exactly where my project would end up. I began by simply picking a stencil and color scheme.

A Closer Look:

Directions:
1. Prepare the canvas by securing the stencil to the canvas in 5-6 spots using double sided tape. Spray 1-2 squirts of mist (because a little goes a long way) and while firmly holding the stencil, work the paint into the canvas with a make-up sponge. Continue to apply additional colors and blend.

2. Next, dry emboss white cardstock with a damask pattern and then apply Distress Ink on the raised image. Tear one edge of the embossed paper and then brush on a generous swipe of Crackle Paint so that it just peaks out the sides when the photo is attached. Allow it to dry thoroughly before mounting the photo on the embossed card. Tear one edge of the velum paper and mount the photo cluster onto it.

3. Stamp the Vine Silhouette image onto cardstock with VersaMark ink, sprinkle embossing powder, and heat emboss. Cut the embossed image in half, tear both edges, and adhere it vertically behind the photo cluster.

4. After the canvas is dry, prepare your stamps using an acrylic paint dabber. Stamp randomly over the misted canvas with three different images. Remember to check to see that the stamp is evenly inked and look for any excess ink that should be removed so that it doesn't spoil the impression. Also, you may like to dab your finger along the outer edges of the stamp to lighten the applied ink so the image will have a gradual fade out and a more distressed look.

5. Finally, (the best part)...embellish the layout with rose trim, lace, butterflies, gems flourishes, charms, chipboard bird, and a title or quote. I stamped leaves onto transparency and embossed them in silver. Lastly, I stamped a quote onto transparency and heat embossed it with silver powder so that I had the ability to place it on the layout over dry embossed textured paper that would have been impossible to stamp on directly. To finish off the layout, lightly dust the edge of the canvas with a hint of pink chalk.

Supplies: 12x12 Canvas Scrapbook Page-Linnie Blooms, leaf vine stencil-Prima, pink/teal/lavender mist-Perfect Pearls Spray, silver acrylic paint dabber-Ranger, damask embossing folder-Darice, Tattered Rose Distress Ink-Ranger, Tattered Rose Crackle Paint-Ranger, Script Border stamp set-Heidi Grace, Flourish Script stamp-Ditto, Silhouette Spray stamp-N180 Stampendous, Fern Background stamp-Posh Impressions, Possibility stamp-Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous, VersaMark ink-Tsukineko, transparency, Pearl & Silver embossing powder-Stampendous, heat gun, vellum, blush rose trim-American Crafts, butterfly embellishments, skeleton leaves, chipboard, gems, charms, chalks- Inkadinkado

Don't forget to stop by the LB Shop to see all the wonderful canvas products.

TIPS: If you feel nervous or uncertain about the placement of the stamped images, stamp your chosen design on scratch paper multiple times. Cut them apart and use them to plan your stamping to see what works. Try different arrangements before taking the big leap to stamp directly on the canvas. Keep in mind that, using 3 repeated designs in a triangular formation around the focal point is the ideal number for balance, as groups of odd numbers are the most appealing. If you still can't decide between placements, you can photograph the different layouts to compare them on the computer screen side by side. This takes the guess work and uncertainty out of stamping so you can get back to creating. By taking a few moments to do these preparations, you will be happier with the final result.

LINNIE BLOOMS KITS THEIR FIT FOR A KEY

I'm back...........It's me Trish and I'm still alive!

Thank You, for  checking out my latest creation., It's from the Super Fun Linnie Bloom kits. Linnie Blooms keeps adding more and more items to their catalog- be sure to check them out.
The kit I'm using today is actually a key holder.  The kit contains a rectangle shape of wood, 9 canvas flowers, they are really cool they have a starburst edge, 3 hooks for keys and 3 buttons. You get all of this for an incredible price. I'm going to order another kit and do daisies and the words- He Loves Me!!!

Let me show you my project-From Beginning to end

The kit comes packaged with the wood, individual packaging for the canvas flowers, buttons and hooks

Picture shows-canvas flowers and block of wood (buttons and hooks not shown)

Let the decorating begin- I used Faber-Castell Gelatos to color the canvas flowers

that was so much fun to use. I dipped the gelatos into a drop of water and started coloring. I used different painter trowels to create different designs and textures . (you can pick up the trowels for under a $1.00 at home depot)
I kept changing the flowers around until I was happy this was the final decision

As for the block of wood I added Mud from Art Anthology and after waiting for it to dry and I took a palate knife and spread it over the block to cause a distress look -I finished it off with the word "BLOOMIE"

Be sure to order your kit today- Don't forget YOU can make the flowers any color you want.
Send me a finished photo, I would love to post
