Sneak peek- New products

Good morning......

Today, I am here to show you a couple sneak peeks.....a 4 x 4 mini canvas pillow and a new stitched stamp set. I thought that the mini 4 x 4 canvas pillow would make a super duper cute little pocket. I punched two holes and added ribbon so it could hang one the wall.

The word believe is part of the new stitched stamp set. I stamped it on the canvas with ink then I went over it with some 3-D puffy paint. This way it looks sort of stitched since it is raised!  You could decorate these up for all sorts of Holidays. 

These new products are coming out at the end of the month.

Tagging Gifts

 Hey there and welcome to another week of great holiday inspiration!  

Today I'm going to share with you two out of the ordinary gift tags I created.  I always like to wrap my gifts in unexpected items such as fabric, actual pattern tissue paper, burlap, comic paper, etc. I also like well embellished toppers, such as bows made of ribbon or fabric with florals, just florals/leaves, or even decorated paper bags. I think this makes it more exciting to find out what's inside, and it's very eye appealing.  Like a present before opening the present.

Let's get started with the supplies:

Pull out a couple of items you think you would like to incorporate, the more the merrier.  You will narrow it down during the process.

Here you will see I've colored the canvas tag with distress stain, then used a mask and molding paste for texture.

After thoroughly drying your tag, add ink droplets, then began to layer your embellishments.

After I've added the desired embellishments, I added a little gesso to the flowers as well as a bit of clear drying glue to adhere some diamond dust.  As you see I decided to go with another selection of flowers, as the first one I pulled was a tad too big. Continue to add texture using gesso or any of your favorite mediums.

This is the result of my tag.

As you see now atop a wrapped gift tucked using glue dots under a bow.  Both the ribbon used to create the bow and the tag will be reusable by the receiver.

My second tag fairly quick to create.  Sometimes you have to just do it...

I decided to mainly use various inks and one stamp to create this tag.  This tag is completed on the front as well as the back.  It really bother's me to have or use one sided tags, so I had to complete both sides.  This is a view of the back of my tag.

This is the front of my tag.  I first gave the tag a generous layer of gesso to give the ink something to hold on to instead of soaking through the fabric. I continued to add layers of texture by dripping diluted gesso, 4 different inks, two mask and one ink pen.

And finally, I added two leaf florals, ribbon and a pop dotted chipboard piece that includes a Christmas greeting.  To top of the tag, three jingle bells were added with thin ribbon.  

This tag was fun, quick and easy to complete.  Best of all I know my tags will be used again as bookmark.  I think it's so much better to create your own personal gift tags instead of using those little To and From tags that get ripped off with the wrapping paper and trashed before you can say Merry Christmas.

Come on...challenge yourself to create your own gift tags, the recipient will love you for it:-)

Let It Snow

Hey here! I'm happy you are following along our week of mittens.  Here at Linnie Blooms we believe in staying warm, I sure hope you are doing the same. In my state winter is so up and down, you never know when the temperature will randomly drop.  As you will see below, my son is holding snow with no mittens because it snowed and melted before we could get home to get them.

Show me the mittens you say, let's get started:

I used the large mittens on this LO.  These mittens were just the right size to use on a LO that incorporates two pictures. May I add how much I L.O.V.E. these mittens and that I really wanted to hoard them because they are so pretty.

To alter the mittens I used two different ribbons, color mist, light molding paste and, a mask to create the design. I also added some Martha Stewart glitter in snow.

For my second project, I used a 5X7 canvas and covered it in burlap to coincide with my previous stocking project. The mittens used are a bit smaller than the mittens used on the above LO.

For the mittens I used fine glitter to give them a soft and fuzzy look and adhered lace and a dainty little jingle bell to the wrist section.

As cute as these mittens are I must confess, I created two little bows that were suppose to be added on the wrist right below the bells...well, when I began adhering everything down, I totally forgot to add the little bows.  They would have been so cute along with the bells!

Put on your mittens...

 

Baby, it IS cold outside.  Time to dig out those mittens...inside and out!  We are all playing with the Linnie Blooms canvas mitten shapes this week and they are just screaming for fun embellishments! 

 

As I mentioned in a previous post, I really do not like shopping.  Gift wrapping is where my heart lies.  The present inside may not be that great, or it may be a gift card, but a pretty topper makes it special. 

 

For these tags (that I cut into 3 1/2"x 6" from old file folders), I painted the canvas mittens with acrylics and added dashes of Picket Fence Distress Stain, outlined in Rock Candy Stickles.  I put a layer of Aleene's Tacky Glue at the top and pressed in tiny clear white seed beads to make the cuff.  Into my bin of doo-dads, I found and added some felt snowflakes, metal snowflake brads, wood snowflakes (painted and Stickled), and pearls.  I love that these canvas shapes can hold up to anything added to them (they are quite heavy when you start adding paint and beads and Stickles--regular paper couldn't hold up to this kind of "beading"...hee hee).

I often add sayings and phrases inspired by song lyrics to my projects, and here I am doing it again!  I liked this dotty paper, but found it just a bit too bold for what I needed.  By adding a few layers of Picket Fence Distress Stain (and drying it with a heat gun between layers), I was able to tame the background and make it ready for running through the printer. 

 

So, while I continue to "pro-craftinate"...that is avoid putting up Christmas decorations (or maybe it is because we are remodeling our bathroom and I have a bathtub, toilet, double vanity, linen cabinet, etc. in my living room and there is no room for the tree)...I am reminded that I am wrapping these gifts in LOVE. 

 

After all, shouldn't the whole season be wrapped in LOVE?

wrapped in hand-made love...

 

I do not like to shop.

There, I said it.

I'll say it again.

I do not like to shop.

 

However, I do like finding the perfect gift for someone.  And because I do not shop often, I browse for good gifts all year long.  Sometimes, that perfect gift is a gift card (like to their favorite scrapbook store...hint, hint).   And, while a gift card may sometimes seem impersonal, when it's wrapped with something hand-made, it seems to be wrapped with love. 

 

 

 

The Linnie Blooms shop is full of some new fun holiday shapes, and this stocking is perfect for a stocking stuffer (it doubles as an ornament too). 

 

First, I took out a white crayon and freehand drew some zig-zag shapes on 2 of the Linnie Blooms Canvas Stockings.

With a little bit of Distress Ink and some water, I painted over those zig-zags (one side is Festive Berries and the other side is Evergreen Bough).  The white crayon acts as a resist.

                                      

 

Then, I used Tacky Glue to line the edge of one of the stockings and glued them together.





Next came the fun, embellishing part.  I glued a thick, furry felt as the top of the stockings and rubbed in some Rock Candy Stickles.  I added silver glitter glue as stitches on the toes and heels.  I went outside and clipped my spirea shrubs to get some natural sticks that I added to some silver berries and wrapped them in a bundle with some twine.  Some Copic-colored Linnie Blooms leaves top it off.

 

And look...it's the PERFECT size for a gift card!

So don't despair if you don't find that perfect gift...

wrap it in LOVE...then it is perfect!
