Altered Wooden Clothes Pins

I saw these cute little canvas leaves and was inspired to make some autumnal themed clothes pins. These autumnal clothes pins can be used for various decorative purposes. They can be clipped on lampshades / drapes for a fun home decor accent or used as a table decoration as a place setting name card holder for your guests. If a magnet is attached to the back, they can be decorative and functional.

Here's a step by step of how I did it.

Directions:
1. Prepare to Paint:
Protect your work surface & wear gloves. Place the canvas leaves on your craft matte or newspaper. Mist the leaves with 3-4 autumnal colors. With your finger, blend the colors together so they absorb into the weave of the fabric. I worked with all paint colors simultaneously. Remember to color the back side of each leaf as well. Set aside to dry.

2. Color Clothes Pins: Attach washi tape to both sides of each wooden clothes pin. Carefully trim away excess tape with scissors and firmly press all edges securely.
 3. Assemble Bows: Cut a strip of fabric about 1.25in x 4inches in length. Find the center of the fabric strip. Pinch and twist one side of the fabric to the back and use a piece of wire to cinch the center of the bow twisting the wire to secure it. Trim the ends of the fabric if needed. Tie a small bow using jute or baker's twine.

4. Detail the Leaves: When the leaves are thoroughly dry, take each leaf and fold it in half to the stem pressing firmly with your fingers. The stiffened canvas will hold the gentle crease and the fold will appear to be the vein of the leaf giving it a more realistic appearance.

5. Embellish Clothes Pins: Use a hot glue gun to attach the fabric bow to the end of the wooden clothes pin. Next, glue a leaf in the center of the fabric bow. Finally, glue a twine bow on the leaf and embellish it with a button.

TIP: Since I have accumulated many sprays and mists, I make a sample card for each color by spraying a mini tag and attaching it to a jump ring. Then, I can refer to the tags to help me quickly select the right colors for my project. To help me find the bottle on the shelf, I write the brand & color on the back of the tag.

"You are My Happy" by Rochelle

Hello Crafters!

It’s Rochelle here today and it’s my turn to share with you my project that I created using Linnie Blooms product! :)

Today I am sharing a burlap panel I altered and decorated with Linnie Blooms Canvas Petal Flowers.

Here it is:

I started with this 5x7 burlap panel that already had a vintage image on it (sorry, I forgot to take a “before” photo).  I added a layer of Gesso and the color red to cover the image:

Here’s the Linnie Blooms product I used for the flower:

I colored each canvas piece (and stamped the circle) and set aside to dry. I cut a small piece of the mesh (my fav!!!) for layering.  While I waited, I cut the vinyl quote from my Cameo and transfered it to the panel.

When the flowers dried I layered them and added a button, twine and a couple of stick pins
And there you go!

A very fun, quick and gorgeous burlap panel with Linnie Blooms Canvas pieces!

Thanks for stopping by!

"Lovely Princess" 12x12 Canvas Scrapbook Page

Hi All! It's Rochelle here today to share with you this 12x12 Layout I created on a Linnie Blooms 12x12 Canvas Scrapbook Page.  I love creating scrapbook layouts, it's what I create most of the time.  Being able to create a layout on a 12x12 canvas is not only innovative, it's also super fun!!

Here's my layout:

Here's the 12x12 canvas before I started to create the layout:
The canvas comes already stitched, lined with recycled paper.  So it's very durable! :)

I used a Tim Holtz stencil with textured (white) paint to create the sun rays:

After adding 3 different Heidi Swapp color sprays to create the background, I chose a few different pieces os patterned paper and layered them.  I love using the Linnie Blooms Mesh.  I added it into my layers and just love how it came out!

I used the Linnie Blooms Canvas Petal Flowers and the Linnie Blooms Leaves to create this flower.

I used the same Heidi Swapp color sprays that I used for the background to color the flower. I scrunched up one petal flower and layered it onto another one and added a small piece of the mess for the center.

Lastly, I added my embellishments and I was done! :)

If you haven't tried creating on a 12x12  Canvas Scrapbook Page, you need to try it!!! :)

You can purchase the12x12 Canvas on the Linnie Blooms website HERE.

I'm Back! :)

Hello!!!  I am so excited to be back on the Linnie Blooms Design Team. :)
Here's a little bit about me.  I have been crafting since 2003.  Although I mostly make scrapbook layouts,  I LOVE to play around with mixed media and textures and incorporating all of it onto my layouts. I was on the very first design team here at Linnie Blooms.  I stayed around a while and then as life happens, I got extremely busy and had to cut back on a few design teams.  But you couldn't keep me away from playing with CANVAS for long! :)  I am back and super excited to hopefully inspire you all with my creativity!

Today, I would like to share with you a 8x10 canvas board that I created using Linnie Blooms stamps, Canvas Bird, Canvas Leave and Canvas Pennants.  I’m sorry I don’t have step by step photos.  Actually, I was just playing around with this piece and I ended up really liking it and wanted to share it with you all! :)
To create the background, I started by treating the canvas with Gesso.  Then I used Gelatos with water to create the background color. Next, I took a honeycomb stencil and used a babywipe to remove the gelato color exposing the white Gesso.  I used the same technique with a Bingo stamp creating a white bingo image.  After sprinkling a few drops of Studio Calico mist sprays and letting the piece dry, I added the doily and covered it with a very thin coat of clear Gesso.  To finish up the background I used Linnie Blooms stitch stamps - Stitched Greetings and Stiched Sunshine -- LOVE THEM!!!

You know what else I LOVE... the canvas bird!!!  I love it so much that you may see it on every project of mine!! lol  I love the versatility of the bird.... color it, stamp it, paint it, doodle on it... whatever you want.  In this case, I used Gelatos and a stamp for his body.  I used a Canvas Leave as the wing.  Isn’t he cute? :)

I pretty much did the same with the pennants. I used Gelatoes and stamps.

Lastly, I layered the papers, bird, rosette ribbon, pennants and bling  pulling it all together by  adding an adorable photo of my Best Friend’s granddaughter!

There you have it! I hope you like my project and I hope it inspires you to play around with these awesome Canvas Pieces.  You can find more information about these Canvas Pieces on the Linnie Blooms website.

Happy Crafting!

Hi Bev here today. This month at Linnie Blooms I had a chance to
create using this fabulous canvas pillow case...
one of the many new product lines to come out in late August.
I haven't dont any stitching for years now.. but it was coming back to me .. just like riding a bike.
No even sure of the names of the stitches... but I am thrilled with my finished pillow case.
I still need to buy the proper inner cushion but substituted for now to get a finished photo.

I started this project with my tree first. I inked the trunk and stamped the leaves
with textured stamp and green ink. I then added the twine tied buttons.
Next  up was the inked leaves and the stamped look for more depth and texture.
Stamping of the sunburst and the background was next before adding the tree, leaves and  piece of burlap.

Next I stamped the words which I hand stitched using embroidery floss from my stash.
The design was still a bit off so I sew easy inked rolled the lower and side edge with the
stitch pattern which I then hand stitched over top with a varigated coloured embroidery floss.
I didn't worry about the ink splatter.. it added depth and rustic look to my projcet.

Supply List:
Linnie Bloom Supplies:Canvas Pillow Cover, Canvas Tree, Canvas Leaves, Word Stamps
Ink Roller: We R Memory Keepers stamp ink roller
Mask: cut file
Paint: misc
Ink: Tim Holtz ranger, StazOn, ColorBox
Other: burlap, embroidery floss, twine, Stitching, buttons

Special NOTE: the word stamps and canvas pillow case will be in the store around

Amazing Linnie Bloom canvas shapes

Hi .. Bev here today and OMG ..my first ever real canvas attempt... sure hope you like it.
It all started with canvas shapes from Linnie Blooms... and
I knew exactly what I wanted to do with these really cool canvas trees and leaves.

I started with a 8 1/2"x 12" canvas from the dollar store.
I used paint strips on the background to start.
Then I mask with gesso for more texture and then added more paint splatter.
Next I used Paper House papers.. plywood and  pine forest... rustic and ripped
it and edges with ranger ink.
More layers with some burlap, strip of cork and a section of Creative Embellishments accent.
Phot was placed under the accent a bit and the
painted trees cover the base of the photo also.

I put a cute rubon on a piece of paper, ribbed and inked and applied
to top right corner of all the layered textures.
I added and metal accent and a twine tied metal keys accent.
In the top upper left corner I inked the leaves, doodled spines and added buttons.

Using Cricut I cut the title "best memories".

Be sure to visit Linnie Blooms blog and store.. amazing craeative

the fabulous canvas shapes and many other unique accents.

Yellow exam card

I´m showing you a yellow and bright card I made for our nice Teacher exam. I love how it turned out with the different shades of yellow paper and the yellow flowers. The Linnie Blooms canvas feather and leave was just spot on perfect for this project.

To highlight the canvas shapes further, I inked them a bit with a beige ink. Enjoy!

Outdoor Fun~Beach Layout

Hi Friends! It's Abby with ScrappinAbby and I'm back to share another fun project with you for June's Challenge: Outdoor Fun. This month we'll be showing you some fun ways to use your LB Stencils/Masks and Canvas pieces to show what kind of outdoor fun we will be having this month. I have a secret though...my outdoor fun isn't until July when we're on vacation so don't tell anyone ; )

I created a mixed media layout using some of the LB canvas pieces....
I also have a video that shows you the project up close along with a tutorial of how I created the leaves using some of the LB Canvas Pieces...

In the video...I walk you through the steps on how I created the leaves for this layout but below is a photo of the process so you can see the transformation...
Love how these turned out and how they added such a fun texture and pop of color to the layout....

I can't wait to put a family photo of us on the beach on this layout once we're back from our vacation next month. This is going to be a fun addition to add to my gallery wall at home and what a way to remember a fun day of my family enjoying some "Outdoor Fun".

Thanks for stopping by the blog today and be sure to head to the online store and pick up some of the Canvas Pieces for yourself.

Happy Crafting!!

Mixed media tags

Today I would like to show you two tags I made for my doughter Alice who turned 6 years old a couple of days ago.

I have used the same base for both tags, a cardstock tag with a patterned paper from 7 Dots Studio (Love is in the Air collection "Rising of the Sun"). First of all, I wanted to add some structure so I applied thick modeling paste (from the hardware store) trough a template. When dried I sprayed the tags with mist from Ayeeda (13@rts). After drying more I stamped with black permanent ink randomly over the tags.

When happy with the base I added my chosen Linnie Bloom canvas products, mixed with a couple of other embellishments. For the tag above I made a flower using two Canvas Blooms that I sew togheter by hand. Then I sprayed it with ink and highlighted it with a bit of red paint.

For the card down below I used the gorgous Canvas Leaves and feathers! They are SO versatile!! Instead of misting them I painted them with thin gesso. That way they get more flexible, and easy to bend when semi dry.

Other materials used: Flower (13@rts). Frame (Fabscraps). Chipboard Wheel and tag (Scrapiniec). Rinestones (Pink Paislee). Button (Prima Marketing). Stamps (Prima, Keisercraft).

Hope you liked my tags as much as Alice did!

Best wishes from Marie

Gold and Glitter

You know those days you feel like you are like a grey mouse wandering around in the city? We all have them, and I took a photo of myself one of those days. I mean, scrapbooking is about documenting life, and life ain´t bright and sunny everyday...

To spruce up the "sad" picture I have used a lot of golds and sparkly bits.

I have used a mini file folder as my backdrop for the picture. I used different stamps to achieve some and dept to it.

I built up my page on top of the file folder with different cards, tags, tread and a piece of a brown bag. Then I added a lot of flowers and the gorgeous Linnie Blooms Canvas leaves.

The leaves where covered in varnish and two different Mesospheres from Ayeeda (13@arts). The papers, cards and tags are from 7 Dots Studio. I have also used Heidi Swapp color shine (gold).

Hope you enjoyed my romantic page!
